Andre Dubus III’s Townie
As the saying goes, great writers are made, not born. In his new memoir, author Andre Dubus III chronicles that “making.” Set during his formative years in hardscrabble Haverhill, Massachusetts, Townie is a story of poverty and neglect, violence in the streets, a complex father–son relationship and, ultimately, of finding salvation in the written word. Dubus will be at Porter Square Books in Cambridge tonight at 7pm.
