Magid Mazen On Egypt
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is expected to announce his resignation in a televised address to his people within hours. The newly appointed vice president, Omar Suleiman, will reportedly take over. This dramatic turn comes 17 days into the pro-democracy protests that have consumed Egypt’s major cities. Last week, Mubarak announced he would not seek re-election, but that did little to satisfy protestors who wanted nothing less than Mubarak’s immediate resignation. We talk with Magid Mazen, a professor of management at Suffolk University. Like so many Egyptian ex-patriots living here in Boston, has been observing these dramatic developments from afar, while trying to stay in touch with friends and relatives back home.
