Everything Money – PACs
Everything Money – PACs: Are political action committees playing an increasingly central role in the election process. Special interest groups have already spent $80 million on midterm election campaigns this year. That is five times the amount spent at the same point in 2006. Where are the PACSs getting this money? Nobody really knows. Much of the giving is secretive and impossible to trace, as donors are not required to disclose their contributions to either the IRS or the Federal Election Commission. And by all accounts, the influence of PACs will continue to rise, thanks to a recent Supreme Court ruling that that removed spending limitations on unions, corporations and other interest groups. Here to shine a light on this shadowy world is our “Everything Money” financial guru Sheryl Marshall.
