Two New Polls Stir Things Up In Gov’s Race and Ballot Question Fight
With just five weeks to go before voters cast their ballots, a new Boston Globe poll shows the Republican candidate for Governor, Charles Baker closing the gap between he and the long-time frontrunner, Democratic incumbent Governor Deval Patrick. The poll, which was conducted last week, found 35 percent of likely voters would support Patrick, compared to Baker’s 34 percent. The Independent candidate, State Treasurer Tim Cahill received 11 percent, Green Rainbow Candidate Jill Stein got 4 percent, and 14 percent are still undecided. Meantime, another new Globe poll finds voters deeply divided over ballot Question 3 – which would slash the state sales tax from 6.25 percent to 3 percent.
