New Bedford is wonderful but, liberal/progressive policies have run it into the ground. People are taught to look to the govt for everything! Personal Responsibility has been lost. Children wont do well at school if it is not valued by the family they live with. Contrary to Rep. Cabral bilingual education does these children a disservice. We are an English speaking country how will they compete w/out competency in English? I lived in Venezuela, I learned Spanish because I had to in order to be successful.

Where We Live – New Bedford
Despite it’s attractiveness as a tourism destination, the city of New Bedford continues to grapple with crime, unemployment, and struggling schools. Our Where We Live series continues with a look at the challenges facing the former whaling capital of the world – a city that can’t seem to get out of its own way. We’re joined by WGBH’s Ralph Ranalli and New Bedford State Representative Antonio Cabral.
