Egypt – A First Hand Account
If you thought the media’s scaled back coverage of unrest in Egypt this week signaled that things have calmed down, you thought wrong. Anti-government activists are calling on supporters to expand their demonstrations in defiance of Vice President Omar Suleiman’s warning that protests won't be tolerated for much longer. Suleiman told Egyptian newspaper editors yesterday that there could be a "coup" unless demonstrators agree to enter negotiations. Matthew Bell, a correspondent for PRI’s The World, is in Jerusalem – but until two days ago – he was right in the heart of demonstrations in Cairo and he joins us with a first-hand account.
