Plan To Shutter Nine Area Schools Likely To Pass: The Boston Public School Committee is scheduled to vote this evening on a plan that would close nine schools, while merging and expanding others. Faced with a budget deficit for the upcoming year; the closures proposed by Superintendent Carol Johnson are projected to save the district more than $10 million dollars. But parents and teachers argue that the disruption will not be worth the savings. WGBH’s Andrea Smardon, who has been covering the story, joins us with more.
