Rethinking Higher Education – JD
When U.S. News and World Report came out with their 2011 law school rankings this week, they landed in an uncertain legal world. Though private law schools can now cost more than $50,000 a year - with some public schools like the University of Michigan just a few thousand dollars behind - the market for recent grads is anything but certain. Many professors, students, and aspiring lawyers are asking: Is law school worth the investment? Is the market for lawyers changing? And how are students adjusting? To answer those questions, we’re joined by Andrew Morriss, a professor of law at the University of Alabama; Josina Raisler-Cohn, a 2009 graduate of Northeastern University School of Law and staff attorney with the Committee for Public Counsel Services; J.R. Geronimo, a 3rd year law student at Fordham Law School; and Abigail Ruettgers, entrepreneur and 2006 University of Michigan law school graduate who before leaving law altogether was an associate in product liability and mass tort litigation at Nixon Peabody from 2006-2009.
