Show & Tell – How The 1980s Explain The World We Live In Now
Show and TellCould it be that much of our thinking, political rhetoric and public discourse today is framed by the pop culture of the 1980s?  Is the popularity of the Congressional “maverick” thanks to Die Hard? Is the way we think about how our elected leaders should deal with the military due to movies like Top Gun and Rambo? That is the premise of a provocative new book by author David Sirota. And how did we learn about this book? Well our resident provocateur Steve Almond of course. He joins us for another edition of his regular segment Show and Tell and today, he wants to show us and tell us about Sirota’s Back To Our Future: How the 1980s Explain The World We Live In Now. And for good measure, we’re also joined by the author himself.
