Sheriff James DiPaola Suicide: Police say Middlesex County Sheriff James DiPaola committed suicide this weekend in a hotel room in Wells, Maine. The tragic news, which came just two days after Thanksgiving, also came less than a week after resigning his post amid criticism over legal but ethically questionable “double dipping,” and less than five days after sitting down with us for a candid conversation here in the WGBH studios. DiPaola also faced an investigation into his use of campaign money. His shocking action followed a week of intense media scrutiny – which has some asking if the press went too far. Northeastern University Associate Professor of Journalism Dan Kennedy joins us with his take. And WGBH's Adam Reily checks in from Beacon Hill with the latest from the statehouse.
