Week in ReviewFormer House Speaker Sal DiMasi – who was found guilty on federal corruption charges earlier this year – has been sentenced to eight years in prison. Does the punishment fit the crime? Security has been stepped up in New York and Washington on word of a possible terror plot to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. On ABC this morning, Vice President Joe Biden had this to say, “there are specifics, so in that sense it was credible, but there is no certitude, we don’t have the smoking gun.” Hmmm. We’ll discuss the tricky task of trying to strike a balance between emphasizing caution and urging people not to panic. Economists are offering generally positive reviews of President Barack Obama’s $447 billion bill to stimulate jobs creation. Perhaps not surprisingly – fresh off their debate earlier this week – the field of republican presidential hopefuls are not particularly keen on the plan. And speaking of thumbs down... thumbs up, thumbs down on adult proms, banning the pledge of allegiance in classrooms and much more. We’re joined by attorney and political activist Cheryl Cronin; The Boston Globe’s Kevin Cullen; and The Boston Herald’s Dave Wedge.
