'Whitey' Week in Review
After 16 years on the lam, the FBI’s most wanted fugitive returns to his native Boston today – in handcuffs. James "Whitey" Bulger – who faces charges in connection with 19 murders – is expected to be arraigned at 4 p.m. The capture of the former leader of the Winter Hill Gang appears to bring the FBI's long manhunt to an end. But some say the arrest could be the beginning of a new scandal. “The only thing Whitey Bulger has in his pocket right now is revenge and he believes the FBI wronged him,” the Boston Globe’s Kevin Cullen and others believe Bulger could implicate an untold number of local, state and federal law enforcement officials. Bulger’s longtime girlfriend Catherine Greig faces charges of harboring a fugitive. Will she give up valuable intelligence for a lighter sentence? And, conspiracy theories abound… Did the FBI’s PSA really lead to the tip that brought him in? Or was FBI trying to protect the tipster? Plus, reaction from William Bulger and how finally knowing where Whitey is after all these years changes the story line in Boston mob mythology. We’re joined by Tom Keane, Peter Gelzinis and Shannon O'Brien.
