Artist Maya Lin was catapulted to fame in 1981 with her divisive design for the now-iconic Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Since then she's gained international acclaim designing works large and small for public, private and gallery space.
Now the designer brings her talents to bear in Rhode Island with a project to re-envision Newport's Queen Anne's Square. Construction may start as early as next spring on The Meeting Room, Lin's design for a park originally given to Newport by preservationist and philanthropist Doris Duke in 1976. Today Maya Lin joins us to talk about her plans for revitalizing the square for historic Newport and its residents.
