Casinos in Massachusetts
We’ve heard the glass half empty/half full scenarios before. Will casinos increase revenue and create jobs? Or, will they drain the state of resources and spawn a public health nightmare? And another question that goes largely unanswered: Does it have to come to this? Have we lost our innovative edge by failing to find other solutions? Or are we coming to terms with today’s economic realities? Gambling has been described as a sure way of getting nothing from something. In Massachusetts gambling could give us something- but the "something" remains to be seen.
We look through the pros and cons of bringing casinos to the Bay State with Noah Bierman, a State House reporter for The Boston Globe; John Kindt, professor of business and legal policy in the Department of Business Administration at the University of Illinois College of Business; Marlborough State Rep. Steven Levy, and Milford State Rep. John Fernandes.
