Raising Renee

When accomplished artist Beverly McIver’s mother died, she left the care of her mentally disabled sister, Renee, to her. The documentary film “Raising Renee” follows Beverly for the years after her mother's death, as she fulfills the promise she made to her mother and cares for her sister while juggling her life as a painter and a teacher.

“Raising Renee” premiers tonight at 8 p.m. on HBO.
