We’re talking about innovation- looking at what it means and how the word is being used. Once reserved for the likes of Benjamin Franklin and Henry Ford, today innovation is up for grabs. Proctor & Gamble deploys it to promote a new line of toothpaste. Campbell’s uses it describe new, bold soup flavors. The Wall Street Journal reports that more than 250 books with "innovation" in the title have been published in the last three months. In being so un-innovative with how we use this word, are we losing sight of what innovation is? Are we fooling ourselves that improvements, makeovers, and an entrepreneurial spirit are synonymous with life changing inventions?
