Seeing as you are not taking calls today, I thought this topic important enough to comment on that I left my hot lunch downstairs in order to come up to the office to send you this. Reason I have been one of those outraged over the past decade or so on all the focus on JUST Teachers as the source resolution of student educational problems. IE I agree w/ your first guest the retired teacher from BOS
As a former HS Guidance Counselor in Upstate New York then Virginia, I had the opportunity to take a CU Course called "Parents On Your Side" where we were instructed on different ways to positively engage parents in the education of their children. Parents a the base of the triangle of StudentParentTeacher, without whom NO young person could be successful in life in school. You wouldnt believe the number of parents who DONT provide an encouraging environment at home, such as a quiet workplace surface for a child to study, encouragement for successes the review of homework on a daily basis to ensure that not only was it completed, but, hopefully, completed correctly in a legible manner.
Without the engagement support of Parents for the classroom Teacher, NO student can be as successful as the potential they may have. Students can not be taught in a vacuum. In other words, its not always the teachers "fault" or in their total control.
Thats all for now, as time does not permit more. HOpe I got my main point across.
