Our next local MacArthur Genius is with us today. Nergis Mavalvala is Professor of Physics at MIT in the division of Astrophysics. She's been developing instruments to pick up gravitational waves in space, a phenomenon that Albert Einstein first predicted in 1916, but that we have yet to find an ideal way of measuring. We'll ask her what she hopes to find in gravitational waves, and how it is to be one of the few female professors in the sciences at MIT.
