Awesome Foundation

The Awesome Foundation was founded in Boston by 10 friends who gathered around the idea of giving grants of $1,000 each month to projects they have deemed "awesome". Anyone can apply for a grant from the self-funded independent foundation, which the group has called the "MacArthur Grant for micro-flashes of brilliance".  Now there are Awesome Foundations across the country, and Awesome Foundation trustee (and Somerville resident) Christina Xu joins us to discuss the Awesome Foundation and the foundation's new non-profit branch, the Institute of Higher Awesome Studies, which is working to create Awesome Foundations in Detroit, New Orleans, and Haiti.
