Egyptian journalist Mona Eltahawy is an award-winning columnist, blogger, and internationally-recognized expert on Arab and Muslim affairs. Eltahawy has reported for outlets in Cairo, Jerusalem, Palestine, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and China, and her opinion pieces have been published in the International Herald Tribune, Time Magazine, and the Washington Post. During the Arab Spring in 2011, she became the go-to woman for many Western media outlets looking for information and analysis of the situation in the Middle East. As a lecturer, she has toured the world to dispel stereotypes about Muslim women. In this conversation with Maria Hinojosa, she discusses the interpretation of Islam, feminism in Muslim society and the future of the Arab world.
