Maria Hinojosa talks with Marian Wright Edelman, the first black woman to be admitted to the Bar in Mississippi. She worked alongside Martin Luther King, Jr. for civil rights, and for the last four decades she has been a central figure in the struggle for children's rights in our country. Mrs. Edelman is the founder and president of The Children's Defense Fund and author of the #1 New York Times best seller The Measure of Our Success: A Letter to My Children and Yours.

The Children's Defense Fund is a non-profit advocacy organization that has worked relentlessly for over 35 years to ensure a level playing field for all children. From its inception, the Children Defense Fund has challenged the United States to raise its standards by improving policies and programs for children.
