Laura commented on Maria Hinojosa: One-on-One on 07.25.10
Hello Ms. Hinojosa
Thank you for let me know about Dr. Quinones Hinojosa. I am a woman from the Andes who has a similar background, but I did not become a doctor, but a soldier, a high school/ college teacher and a world traveler.
It was nice to know that there is someone who has been able to "swim" further than myself. I am still searching for the mountain top, but it is not easy for a Latina woman in this country or any other place in the world who has a mentally ill child. The best feeling of accomplishment for me it has bee to be able to teach those children who believe they cannot learn. Because I was one of those kids in the streets of my country looking for some bread crumbs at 500 AM at one of the monasteries.
Thank for reading this comment.
