This episode celebrates two great jazz trumpet players born 34 years and a day apart. Miles Davis (b. 5/26/1926), whose recording Kind of Blue continues to be the best selling jazz recording of all time. He played with everyone (Charlie Parker, Gil Evans, ) and everyone played with him (John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Sonny Rollins).
Wallace Roney (b. 5/25/1960) studied with Miles Davis from 1985 until Miles' death in 1991. He credits Davis as having helped him to challenge and shape his creative approach to life and well as being his musical instructor.
