Speaking of missing revolutionary war cannon, Quebec and Boston have many shared stories. In the late 1940s, I was quite impressed by a very small one pounder? brass cannon lovingly kept in a high state of polish by the Canadian garrison stationed in the citadel in Quebec. It was supposedly captured by the British at the Battle of Bunker Breeds Hill in June of 1775. Last time I checked, noone seems to know what might have happened to it, or that such a cannon had ever been on display there. Once again we tend to suspect foul play, perhaps by American tourists.

Today is May 13 and I am trying to comment on something I have seen today. How stupid it would be to comment on something that hasnt been aired yet. I am trying to comment on the History Detectives show today, to wit, "REVOLUTIONARY WAR CANNON Season 2, Episode 6 Season 3, Episode 5 THE DETECTIVE Elyse Luray THE PLACE Boston, Massachusetts,
MY COMMENT one of the two cannons hidden at Concord sought by British on 18 April 1775 showed up recently and someone wants to know if its the one stolen from the Boston militia and hidden in Concord. It is common knowledge that both cannons were on display in the Bunker Hill Monument when this facility was under the jurisdiction of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. When Bunker Hill Monument was transferred from state to federal jurisdiction, i.e. to the National Park Service NPS, one of these cannons disappeared and everyone assumed it had been stolen, most likely by someone in this Commonwealths irredeemably corrupt bureaucracy. Apparently, instead of being stolen, it was simply mislaid by the Navy while the Monuments inventory was in storage at the Charleston Navy Yard during remodeling of the Bunker Hill Monument after transfer to the NPS.
Hoop de do.
Questions involve a Revolutionary War-era cannon that might have sparked the war, a Greenwich village townhouse where the plot to kill Lincoln might have been hatched.
