About History Detectives
America's History Detectives prove that an object found in an attic or backyard might be anything but ordinary. Tukufu Zuberi, professor of sociology and the director of the Center for Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, Gwendolyn Wright, professor of architecture at Columbia University, Elyse Luray, independent appraiser and expert in art history, and Wesley Cowan, independent appraiser and auctioneer, leave no stone unturned as they travel around the country to explore the stories behind local folklore, prominent figures, and family legends.
John Goularte, Jr. found an ornate medal in his father's things after his father died, along with a photograph of his father at an award ceremony in 1951 with a caption explaining the Belgian government bestowed upon him the "Order of Leopold." Goularte asks HISTORY DETECTIVES host Gwen Wright to find out how his father earned such a prestigious medal from the Belgian government.
