Porgy and Bess is considered the American opera and one of the most singular pieces of theater ever produced. Now the piece has undergone a transformation of sorts at the American Repertory Theater. In the first of a two-part series looking at the production, Greater Boston's Jared Bowen speaks with the show's cast and director Diane Paulus.
