Jan. 14, 2010 : Boston responds to the Haitian earthquake

With the third largest Haitian population in the U.S., the City of Boston opened an emergency response center today to help residents reach family in Haiti. Emily is joined Haitian-American Jean-Dany Joachim, whose family’s home was destroyed in the quake, Bill Forry of The Boston Haitian Reporter and Donna Barry of Partners In Health, an organization that has been coordinating relief efforts in Haiti.

• Red Cross: You can contribute by logging on to redcross.org, by calling 1-800-RED CROSS, or by texting HAITI to 90999 to have a donation of $10, charged to your cell phone, be given to the Red Cross.
