Dear Emily Larry Summers possesses a great deal of responsibility for the devastating financial crisis of the last ten years yet he maintains a posture of the Delphic Oracle, brushing under the rug the responsibilty he shares with President Clinton, Alan Greenspan, Robert Rubin, and a large majority of congressmen of both parties and the future administrations of Bush II and Obama for the repeal of the GlassSteagall Act of 1933.
Why didnt you nail him when he twisted and squirmed ever so slightly when you queried him about his horribly wrong recommendations re deregulation? No one who supported that repeal has ever admitted their mistake and the unbelievable worldwide consequences of what they caved on. Thank you.
Why are you paying so much for gas? Is the economic recovery on the right track? Is more government intervention needed to fix the economy? Former Harvard University president and former economic adviser to President Obama Lawrence Summers addresses these questions and more with Emily.
