A gentle and touching comedy drama, starring Martin Clunes (Men Behaving Badly). Doc Martin follows the celebrated London surgeon, Martin Ellingham, whose truculence and tactless manner cause mayhem in a small Cornish fishing village. Despite being a successful surgeon, Ellingham’s stratospheric career takes a sharp and unexpected nosedive when he develops a chronic fear of blood. After re-training as a General Practitioner, he manages to secure a position in the beautiful but sleepy community of Portwenn, replacing their deceased local doctor. He may have been a brilliant surgeon up in London but Ellingham is stunningly irritable, abrasive and grumpy, a trait that doesn’t exactly gel with the locals in rural Cornwall.
