Camille Saint-Saens was a representative of some of the newest trends in the musical world of Paris in the 19th century. He introduced the music of Bach and Handel, and played pieces by Robert Schumann, unheard-of at the time, on his recitals. The Boston Chamber Music Society plays his Piano Quartet in B-flat.
