Ballet Meets Basketball
Choreographer Anna Myer literally stepped outside the traditional dance world when she decided to work outdoors, using a basketball court as her stage. The result is the "hip hop opera" Hoop Suite — a fusion of dance, rap, song and sport.
Myer collaborated with Jay Paris to stage Hoop Suite at housing projects in Dorchester and Charlestown, featuring neighborhood kids dancing alongside professionals. This fall, Hoop Suite will be performed at Boston's Institute of Contemporary Art.
