MBTA Stops Accepting T Tokens
It's the end of an era in greater Boston today — the MBTA will no longer accept T tokens as a form of payment. The T token debuted in 1919 and has waxed and waned in popularity ever since. When the cost of a ride was a quarter, for example, tokens were considered redundant and phased out. But today is the final day they can be redeemed, having been replaced by digital scanners and reloadable CharlieCards. We find out what will happen to the extra tokens and if they were really that inefficient after all.
