At the end of the tragic week of the Marathon Bombings last year, Brian O’Donovan struggled with what to play on A Celtic Sojourn. Somehow, the exuberance of jigs and reels just didn’t seem to fit with the sadness and disorientation the region was feeling deeply. Instead, in a program that resonated with many of our listeners, he slowed the pace down and wove together what became a musical balm. As we approach the first anniversary of that most tragic time, we thought it appropriate to reprise that show here.

Opening waltz: The Lough Beg Waltz by John Whelan.
