Paramount Pictures has been making films for 99 years and counting: from its first silent films in 1912, all the way up to Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never". And for as long as the Hollywood studio has made films, it's made iconic soundtracks: "Indiana Jones", "Forrest Gump", "Iron Man", "The Godfather", and those terrifying violin shrieks for Alfred Hitchock's "Psycho". To help catalog all that music from almost a century of filmmaking, Paramount has enlisted the help of student composers from the Berklee College of Music. Berklee students listen to, break down, describe, and catalog legendary music from composers like Danny Elfman, John Williams, and Bernard Herrmann.
For their troubles, Berklee students get industry contacts, and the chance to score a Paramount short film of their very own. Richard Davis is the director of the Paramount project, and a professor of composition at the Berklee College of Music. He joins us in studio, along with Berklee student and composer, Pablo Trujillo.
