MASTERPIECE’s Erin Delaney named 2013-14 Margret and Hans Rey/Curious George Producer

BOSTON, Mass. (July 12, 2013)MASTERPIECE producer Erin Delaney has been selected as the 2013-2014 Margret and Hans Rey/Curious George Producer, awarded each year to an outstanding WGBH producer.
As a pivotal MASTERPIECE team member, Delaney has guided the series into the digital age, building relationships among partners, applying a creative to eye to promos, trailers, and press reels, and helping in the highly successful 2008 rebranding strategy. Delaney has worked on recent hits such as Downton Abbey, Sherlock, Foyle’s War, Wallander, andThe Complete Jane Austen, among other productions since joining MASTERPIECE in 1993.
Made possible through a bequest from author Margret Rey to WGBH through the Curious George Foundation, the Margret and Hans Rey/Curious George Producership enables a WGBH producer to work in an area that reflects Rey’s broad interests, including science, public affairs, arts, health and children’s programming. In 1941, Margret Rey and her husband, Hans, introduced the world to Curious George. The couple would go on to write six more Curious George books together.
"Margret Rey was a longstanding and generous supporter of WGBH—and a champion of interests that are central to public media," said John Abbott, WGBH President and CEO. "We're delighted to honor her memory by recognizing a stand-out producer with the Rey Producership: Erin Delaney, Producer for Masterpiece and one of the key creative forces behind that ever more popular WGBH-produced drama series."
Delaney is the ninth WGBH employee to receive the Rey Producership since its inception in 2000. A television producer and editor, Delaney produces, handles creative direction, and cultivates series strategy for MASTERPIECE, WGBH’s award-winning British drama series. Prior to applying her talents at MASTERPIECE, Delaney edited and produced numerous other WGBH series and projects, including ARTHUR and THE GALAXY PROJECT, a children’s literacy series.
