WCAI to broadcast exclusive content and interviews from The Nantucket Project

Cape and Islands’ Local NPR® Station is Exclusive Radio Partner for Annual Big Ideas Conference

WOODS HOLE, Mass. (September 24, 2014) – Each year, The Nantucket Project brings together a select group of eminent and accomplished visionaries, thinkers, innovators and performers to share what’s foremost on their minds and to see what happens. This year’s conference, which opens Friday, September 26, focuses on art and commerce, and features notable cultural and business influencers including Richard Wurman, founder of TED; Michael Spalter, chair of the board of Rhode Island School of Design; and Vanessa Kerry, co-founder and CEO of Seed Global Health, among others.

WCAI, the Cape and Islands’ only locally-broadcast and locally-managed NPR® station, will serve this year as the exclusive radio partner for the confab. As part of its partnership with The Nantucket Project, WCAI will broadcast exclusive content from the conference sessions and interviews with a number of the featured presenters traveling to Nantucket later this week.

“WCAI is excited to partner with The Nantucket Project and bring Cape and Island residents behind the scenes at one of the most exclusive big think events in the country,” said Mindy Todd, WCAI managing director and host of WCAI’s The Point. “While The Nantucket Project draws presenters from around the world, it is a gathering that is unique to Nantucket. WCAI – the Cape and Islands’ only truly local public radio station – is uniquely equipped to share the ideas being presented this weekend with our neighbors across the region.”

The conference begins on Friday, September 26 at the White Elephant Hotel in Nantucket. Other media partners include TIME Magazine, Nantucket Today, Nautilus, Big Think and The Inquirer and Mirror. WCAI will broadcast special excerpts and interviews from the conference during broadcasts of The Point with Mindy Todd throughout the fall. WCAI is a part of the WGBH public broadcasting family.
