WGBH Awards 2017 Rey Honor to Producer Hillary Wells

BOSTON, October 6, 2017 - WGBH has awarded its 2017 Margret and Hans Rey/Curious George Producer honor to WGBH’s Executive Producer and Director of Youth Media Hillary Wells. The award is given each year to an outstanding WGBH producer who works in an area that reflects Rey’s broad interests, including science, public affairs, arts, health and children’s programming, and is made possible through a bequest to WGBH from author Margret Rey through the Curious George Foundation.

Wells has more than 30 years of experience developing and producing multi-platform, multi-partner events, programs and series. WGBH projects within her portfolio include Crossing the Divide, The Healthy Lunchtime Challenge & Kids’ “State Dinner;” High School Quiz ShowNOVA’s Marathon Challenge; Eye on Education; and Project Dropout. As Director of Youth Media, she is currently focused on content for youth ages 8-18, with a particular focus on civic engagement; science, technology, engineering and math (STEM); career readiness; and health.

“Hillary’s selection for this honor is extremely fitting as her work clearly illustrates a decades-long commitment to amplifying issues concerning youth and their families,” said Terry Fitzpatrick, Vice President of Children’s Media and Education at WGBH. “WGBH is extremely fortunate to have her talent and efforts as a driving force in our work in youth media.”
