WGBH’s A Christmas Celtic Sojourn with Brian O’Donovan Returns for 14th Season

New England’s favorite holiday tradition comes to Boston, Worcester, Providence, New Bedford and Rockport December 9 - 21

BOSTON, November 15, 2016 – WGBH’s “A Christmas Celtic Sojourn with Brian O’Donovan” returns for its 14th season this December with performances in Boston, Worcester, Providence, New Bedford and Rockport. Based on the popular 89.7 WGBH radio program “A Celtic Sojourn,” this year’s concert program promises to be one of the most exciting yet.

“‘A Christmas Celtic Sojourn’ brings together the finest musicians, singers, dancers, and storytellers of Celtic traditions,” said O’Donovan. "And this year we continue to explore our ‘Celtic cousins’ as we delve into the musical traditions of Acadia.”

Music director Seamus Egan will be returning with members of his legendary group Solas, collaborating with captivating harpist Maeve Gilchrist and groundbreaking cellist Natalie Haas. And in this year’s exciting exploration of the deep kinship among Irish, Scottish, and Acadian music, we welcome the truly extraordinary Vishtèn featuring twin sisters Emmanuelle and Pastelle LeBlanc from Prince Edward Island and Magdalen Islander Pascal Miousse.

Eilís Kennedy from Dingle (and of Lumiere fame) will be with us this year as a featured singer. Dance Director Cara Butler will be joined by Nathan Pilatzke. And of course, as is the tradition, The Harney Academy of Irish Dance from Walpole returns to bring their Christmas joy.
