Basic Black, Open Studio with Jared Bowen Welcome New Series Producer

BOSTON, October 12, 2016 — WGBH News has recently hired producer Delores Edwards as Series Producer for its weekly television programs, Basic Black and Open Studio. In her new role, Edwards will be responsible for producing both shows, covering stories which impact communities of color for Basic Black, and exploring the creative processes of artists from across the country for Open Studio.

“We are fortunate to bring a journalist of Delores’ stature on board here at WGBH,” said Bob Dumas, WGBH News Executive Producer. “She is a seasoned broadcast producer whose diverse experience and skill set will help us further distinguish a number of preeminent programs.”

For the past nine years, Edwards has served as a producer in New York City, where she worked on multiple news programs including CBS This Morning. Edwards, who is a graduate of Northeastern University and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, has also worked for many national, local and cable television networks including ABC, Harpo, WNYW and PBS.

“I am happy to be at WGBH,” says Edwards. “I look forward to curating content and stories on communities of color and covering art around the city.”
