WGBH Brings New England’s Most Creative Culinary Minds to Brighton

Join WGBH Thursday, October 5 through Sunday, October 8 for a celebration of fine food and drink from award-winning chefs and artisans

 

 

Boston, MA (September 21, 2017) – WGBH invites the greater Boston and New England community to the sixth annual Taste of WGBH: Food & Wine Festival, a celebration of New England’s finest restaurants, chefs and food artisans. The festival will run from Thursday, October 5 through Sunday, October 8 and will feature culinary luminaries including Joshua Lewin (Juliet), Retno Pratiwi (Kaki Lima), Andy Husbands (Smoke Shop), Karen Akunowicz (Myers+Chang) and Tony Maws (Craigie on Main). From the elegant Chef’s Gala to the Food Fight competition, guests are welcome to join in for the entire weekend’s festivities, or choose from four unique events. 

 

 

2017 Taste of WGBH: Food & Wine Festival Overview

 

1) Chef's Gala
Thursday, October 5, 2017 

VIP Reception, 6-7pm, General Admission 7-10pm

WGBH Studios, One Guest Street, Brighton, MA

Sample the fine cuisine of 21 award-winning chefs along with pairings of wine and craft beer for each dish. The evening also will feature live music, sweet surprises and elegant décor. WGBH’s Jim Braude and Margery Eagan host.

 

2) The Artisan Taste
Saturday, October 7, 2017

VIP Early Access 3-9pm, General Admission 4-9pm
WGBH Studios Backlot, One Guest Street, Brighton, MA  

Chefs and local food artisans bring their creativity outside and coax enticing flavors from New England’s produce in the Grand Tasting Pavilion. The event highlights include Chef Chris Coombs cooking in the culinary theater, the winner of the new Youth Culinary Award competition and the best wines and craft beers you can find.

 

3) Brunch Bar
Sunday, October 8, 2017, 11am-2pm

WGBH Studios Backlot, One Guest Street, Brighton, MA

Savory or sweet? No need to choose one brunch option. Join us for a brunch Grand Tasting featuring popular restaurants and award-winning chefs serving up your favorite brunch dishes side-by-side with refreshing wines, craft beers and ciders and cocktails made with local spirits.

 

4) Food Fight: Global Street Food

Sunday, October 8, 2017, 5-8pm 

WGBH Studios Backlot, One Guest Street, Brighton, MA

We challenged chefs to create their take on street food from across the globe. The 2017 Food Fight showcases 15 chefs serving up their interpretations of street snacks from Bangkok, Oaxaca, the East Bank and beyond.
