WGBH, WGBY and NHPTV honored with Boston/New England Emmy® nominations

WGBH 2’s Beat the Press, Greater Boston, Neighborhood Kitchensand High School Quiz Shownominated for local Emmys

BOSTON, Mass. (May 1, 2013)WGBH earned four Boston-New England Emmy® nominations yesterday from the Boston/New England Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). The Academy recognized WGBH’s Beat the Press andNeighborhood Kitchens, as well as WGBH News arts editor Jared Bowen and High School Quiz Show host Billy Costa. WGBH’s sister station, WGBY in Springfield, Mass., earned two nominations. New Hampshire Public Television, which is a part of a service partnership with WGBH, earned five nominations. 
“WGBH continues to make substantive contributions to the Greater Boston and New England communities. Our producers, reporters, and hosts work tirelessly to produce and deliver great content,” said WGBH President and CEO Jon Abbott. “It is an honor to have WGBH’s commitment to quality local programming recognized by The Academy. I congratulate all of our talented content producers on their nominations.”
The 36th Boston/New England Awards will be presented on Saturday, June 1 at the Boston Marriott Copley Place.

  • Emmy Award for Societal Concerns: Beat the Press: The Newtown Special (Emily Rooney, exec editor/host, Jeff Keating, producer)
  • Emmy Award for Informational/Instructional:Neighborhood Kitchens: Bristol Lounge (Patricia Alvarado Nuñez, series producer)
  • Arts/Entertainment Specialty Report:Greater Boston: War Horse (Jared Bowen, reporter)
  • Program Host/Moderator:High School Quiz Show: Billy Costa, host
WGBY’s nominations include:
  • Emmy Award for Special Event Coverage: Together in Song Finale (Lynn Page, producer, Keith Clark, production manager)
  • Emmy Award for Graphic Arts Set Design:Dan Kane and Friends Present The Magic of Christmas (Dennis Croteau, set designer, Keith Clark, lighting and set consultant)
NHPTV’s nominations include:
  • Emmy Award for Children/Youth: Tiger Takes On Bullying (Carla Russell, producer)
  • Emmy Award for Environmental:Bird Tales(Phil Vaughn, producer)
  • Emmy Award for Graphic Arts Set Design: Tiger Takes On Bullying (Patricia Lindberg, set designer, Robb Dimmick, set designer)
  • Emmy Award for Musical Composition/Arrangement:Tiger Takes On Bullying (Patricia Lindberg, music writer/composer, Jeff Lines, music writer/composer, Will Ogmundson, music writer/composer)
  • Emmy Award for Program Host/Moderator:Willem Lange, host
