WGBH’s Sing That Thing!: Semi-Finals and Finale Tapings

Semi-Final tapes Wednesday, February 24 from 6:00pm to 10:30pm

Finale tapes Thursday, February 25 from 7:00 to 9:30pm

BOSTON, Mass. (February 22, 2016) – Singers from six New England amateur singing groups will perform in front of a live studio audience in the semi-final and grand finale of Sing That Thing!, WGBH’s local series showcasing New England’s best amateur singing groups in a friendly TV competition.

A total of 24 groups were selected from across New England to perform during the second season of Sing That Thing!, which premieres on April 1. The participants represent three competition categories: High School, College and Adult groups. The singers will perform songs over the first six episodes, culminating in a live-to-tape semi-final and finale featuring the top six groups (two from each category) presenting their unique spin on a mash-up or medley of the following songs:

 High School Division:

Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring (Bach, Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben) and You’ll Never Walk Alone (Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II)

College Division:

Stayin’ Alive (Bee Gees) and Hallelujah Chorus (from Handel’s Messiah)

Adult Division: 

Happy (by Pharrell Williams) and Ode to Joy (Beethoven, Symphony No. 9)

The semi-final will be taped at WGBH Studios in Brighton on Wednesday, February 24, and the finale will be taped on Thursday, February 25. Results are confidential and embargoed until after broadcast. Media who wish to attend tapings must email WGBH Media Relations’ Emily Balk.

PRESS CREDENTIALS: All press who wish to cover the tapings must email WGBH Media Relations’ Emily Balk to receive press credentials. Press attending the tapings will be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement that embargoes results until after broadcast.
AUDIENCE SEATS: WGBH invites members of the community to be part of the studio audience. Tickets are free, but RSVP is required.
