Greater Boston Viewers Get First Look At Next Day’s Boston Globe

Collaboration between news organizations opens front page to TV audience

Boston, MA (May 11, 2015) – In an exciting, unprecedented collaboration between local news organizations, The Boston Globe is sharing its front-page news stories in advance with viewers of the public television program Greater Boston on WGBH.

Each evening in a segment called “Tomorrow’s Globe Tonight,” Greater Boston host Jim Braude talks with Boston Globe city editor Stephen Smith about the stories that will headline the morning newspaper. The partnership reflects the shared commitment of the two organizations to provide the community with insight into the important stories of the day, what’s behind them, and what they mean for the region.

“This collaboration between WGBH News and The Boston Globe is great for Globe readers and our viewers. It's a preview, available nowhere else, of breaking news and important, investigative pieces on issues that affect every one of us,” said Greater Boston host, Jim Braude.

“Greater Boston viewers will get an insider’s look at how editors decide what goes on page one at the region’s paper of record. A partnership like this between news organizations is rare and we are proud to make local public media the place that offers this service to our communities,” said Phil Redo, General Manager for WGBH News.

“’Tomorrow’s Globe Tonight’ is another way to extend the Globe’s reach and deliver our award-winning editorial coverage to a broader audience in collaboration with Greater Boston, a trusted and highly respected news program that values high quality journalism,” said Boston Globe Editor Brian McGrory.”

The “Tomorrow’s Globe Tonight” segments air as part of Greater Boston (Monday – Thursday, 7-7:30pm on WGBH 2). Smith appears live from the Boston Globe newsroom as he and Braude dip into the stories the editors plan to lead the front page of the next day’s paper.
