WGBH Names Dave Denis 2013 Becton Fellow
BOSTON, Mass. (May 3, 2013) – WGBH President and CEO Jon Abbott announced Dave Denis as this year’s WGBH Becton Fellow. The fellowship, which is supported by the Becton Fund and named in honor of WGBH’s former president and current vice chair Henry Becton, Jr., recognizes promising WGBH producers and content creators whose work is emblematic of WGBH’s mission.
Denis oversees WGBH’s digital department’s planning, development and production operations and works with WGBH web producers, designers, developers and product managers. Before joining WGBH, Denis oversaw the development and relaunch of BostonGlobe.com, the acclaimed HTML5 site that has been touted as a model for newspapers in the digital age. Denis has also worked at Fox Digital, Dow Jones, Inlumen, Inc., and Miller Systems.
“The Becton Fund supports WGBH’s commitment to creative productions and compelling content. I am pleased to name Dave Denis the 2013 Becton Fellow,” said Abbott. “Dave’s experience and dedicated work makes public media more accessible across multiple platforms.”
The Becton Fund was created in 2006 in anticipation of Becton’s transition from president to vice chair. The endowed fund supports editorial efforts that carry out WGBH’s mission and helps ensure that WGBH has access to the most talented and creative leaders in the field.
