Taste of WGBH: Food & Wine Festival Brings New England’s Best Culinary Minds to Brighton

Join us Thursday, September 15 through Sunday, September 18 for fine food and drink from award-winning chefs

Boston, MA (September 1, 2016) – WGBH is bringing New England’s most respected and innovative chefs and food and wine artisans together from September 15-18, 2016 for the fifth annual Taste of WGBH: Food and Wine Festival. Guests will sample dishes presented by culinary personalities such as Tiffani Faison (Sweet Cheeks Q and Tiger Mama), Jody Adams (TRADE and Porto), Evan Mallett (Black Trumpet), Christopher Coombs (Deuxave and Boston Chops), and Jason Tom (Night Market).

Highlights include:

·       Book signings and live demos from chefs such as PBS personality Kevin Dundon, Barry Maiden and Mary Ann Esposito from the PBS cooking show, Ciao Italia.

·       Presentation of the 2016 WGBH Culinary Stewardship Award.

·       A sampling of products from Vermont food artisans in the Guest Street Marketplace.

·       Live music from artists such as Will Dailey and Aly Tadros.

1) Chef's Gala Reception

Sample the elegant cuisine of 21 award-winning chefs and pairings of wine and craft beer for each dish. The evening will feature live music, sweet surprises and beautiful décor.

2) The Artisan Taste
Saturday, September 17, 2016

VIP early access 3-9pm, General Admission 4-9pm
WGBH Studios Backlot, One Guest Street, Brighton, MA

Chefs bring their creativity outside and bring out the best of New England’s local produce in our Grand Tasting Pavilion. Events will include a live pit BBQ demo from chef Andy Husbands of The Smoke Shop in Cambridge, and a tomato preservation demo with Ciao Italia! host, Mary Ann Esposito. Don’t miss the special vintner and brewer tastings with more than 100 beverages to sample.

3) Brunch Bar
Sunday, September 18, 2015, 11am-2pm
WGBH Studios Backlot, One Guest Street, Brighton, MA

This brunch Grand Tasting features an array of popular restaurants and award-winning chefs serving up your favorite brunch dishes side-by-side with refreshing wines, craft beers and ciders and cocktails made with local spirits. Enjoy live music from The Lucky 5 Jazz Band.

4) Culinary Journey Panel Discussion

Sunday, September 18, 2:15-3:15pm

Yawkey Theater, One Guest Street, Brighton, MA

For the VIP ticket holders. Host Catherine Smart, Chef Alex Stupak (Empellon), Colin Lynch (Bar Mezzana), Doug Feeney (F/V Noah) and more, provide insight into their creative processes and culinary journeys.  

5) Food Fight
Sunday, September 18, 2015, 3:30-6:30pm
WGBH Studios Backlot, One Guest Street, Brighton, MA

We challenged chefs to create their own versions of the classic street food delivery system: food on a stick. The 2016 Food Fight showcases 10 chefs serving up their best interpretation of kebabs, corn dogs, yakitori, satay, pie pops or something we haven’t even imagined yet! Food Fight culminates in awarding one chef the title of champion, chosen by the crowd.
