WGBH Holiday Toy Drive Benefits Local Schools

Gifts distributed among seven Allston-Brighton elementary schools

BOSTON, Mass. (December 18, 2017) – As the holidays approach, WGBH employees came together to give back to the local Allston-Brighton community. Employees purchased nearly 200 gifts and contributed $350 in cash donations. The HR team used the entirety of the cash donation to provide schools with needed items such as school supplies, cold-weather accessories, and books. All gifts were collected by representatives from seven Allston-Brighton elementary schools: Gardner Elementary School, Winship Elementary School, Edison Middle School, Jackson Mann Elementary School, Mary Lyon K-8 School, Baldwin Early Learning Center and Horace Mann School for the Deaf.

“This was our 22nd annual WGBH employee toy drive to benefit children in Allston-Brighton neighborhood schools,” said Ben Godley, WGBH COO and Executive Vice President, and WGBH President of Business Services. “This is a beloved tradition for our employees and we are pleased to be able to bring joy to families across our neighborhood.”

The holiday toy drive, organized through WGBH’s Human Resources department, kicked off on November 15, 2017 at WGBH’s Brighton headquarters.
