WGBH and WGBY TV Honored with Boston/New England Emmy Nominations

WGBH’s Basic Black, Front Row Boston, Greater Boston, High School Quiz Show and Open Studio nominated for local Emmys for excellence in television

WGBY’s Together in Song, Big Ideas for Little Kids, Connecting Point and New England Legends earn nominations for television programming for Western Mass.

BOSTON, Mass. (April 30, 2015) – WGBH earned seven Boston/New England Emmy® nominations today from the Boston/New England Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). The Academy recognized WGBH’s Greater Boston with two nominations for its news programming on societal concerns and interview features, as well as a nomination for interview for local African-American affairs series, Basic Black. WGBH’s new online music series Front Row Boston earned its first nominations for arts and entertainment and audio production. Additional nominations were given to Open Studio with Jared Bowen (arts/entertainment) and High School Quiz Show (sports one-time special).

Additionally, WGBY, WGBH's sister station in Springfield, Mass., was nominated for four awards. Together in Song, which inspired WGBH’s newest local TV series Sing That Thing!, received a nomination for arts and entertainment. Local program Connecting Point was nominated for societal concerns feature for its veterans special, and additional programming was nominated in the education and magazine special categories.

The 38th Boston/New England Emmy® Awards will be presented on Saturday, May 30.
