Greater Boston Arts celebrates the dynamic enterprise of creating public art.

A world-renowned memorial to black Civil War soldiers and their white commander. A fifteen-story gas tank used as a giant canvas. Bronzed trash embedded in the street at Haymarket.

This website highlights twenty remarkable public artworks in and around Boston - art that challenges, art that is bold, art that engages with and responds to its environment. Four of these projects are featured in depth, illustrating the genres of public art making. The site also offers a map, a special tour, and links to public art funders and presenters.

Like the Greater Boston Arts television series, this site aims to inform in an artful manner. Explore the site linearly, using the conventional navigation, or wander and discover as you might on a walk around the city.
