Design Squad Global 

Internship  Description 

The Education Department at WGBH is looking for an intern who is interested in media-based educational programming for youth. The intern will work primarily in support of Design Squad Global, a program that connects kids in youth programs around the world through collaborative engineering projects.   

Internship  Experience

We’re looking for a creative, enthusiastic intern with an interest in educational outreach and content development. Main tasks will include working in close collaboration with the Design Squad Global Outreach Project Manager to assist with the planning and delivery of engineering workshops for youth educators and children, communication with project partners, and writing updates and curating content for project newsletters, social media, and reports.   

Required Skills

  • Excellent research, written and oral skills (editorial experience preferred)
  • Strong administrative management, planning, and leadership skills 
  • Competence in Macintosh computers/Microsoft Word and Excel software
  • Follow-through and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and also effective in an open, collaborative work setting
  • Resourceful and able to think creatively
  • Experience or familiarity with international education (preferred but not required)
  • Experience or background in design or engineering (preferred but not required)
  • Experience working with youth ages 10-13 (preferred but not required)

12-16 hour commitment per week, with some weekend availability for workshops
