Market Research: Corporate Sponsorship

Department Overview:

The Corporate Sponsorship Department raises funds from corporations and businesses for WGBH and our national television and radio productions. Corporate sponsors air messages integrated into programming, promoting their brands. The Department plays a key role in helping fund WGBH programs such as Masterpiece, American Experience, Frontline, NOVA and many other nationally recognized programs.

Using audience and rating data (Nielsen, Comscore), syndicated national surveys such as GfK MRI, website analytics, and custom research surveys, The Research team helps to quantify the media value and marketing opportunity of sponsorship. The research team works closely with the marketing, client services, and sales departments, supporting current and prospective clients both nationally and in the Boston market.

Internship Description:

The WGBH Corporate Sponsorship Market Research Intern will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in applying research findings to creating business opportunity.

The intern will work on different activities and projects to support WGBH's Corporate Sponsorship Research Department. The intern will have the opportunity to participate in meetings with other departments to learn how research is used by other groups at WGBH.

Projects and tasks include:

· Training and use of national and local Nielsen media systems, syndicated research tools and digital analysis programs

· Analyze and report on national media performances and competitive rankings

· Incorporate research findings for marketing and sales presentations

· Assist with updating web analytics and management while gaining skills and experience in Google Analytics and ComScore

· Participate in fielding a major corporate sponsorship research study

· Work with the research team with ad-hoc presentations and projects as needed

· Develop a market research project and present findings to Corporate Sponsorship department at the conclusion of the internship

Skills Preferred:

Comprehensive computer skills, including Microsoft applications – strong Excel skills a plus.

Looking For:

· Majors preferred but not limited to: Marketing, Statistics or Data Sciences

· Eagerness to learn new skills and willingness to explore new challenges

· Excellent computer and data management skills

· Strong follow-through and attention to detail

· Proficiency in internet research

· Competence in Macintosh computers/Microsoft Word and Excel software...knowledge of Salesforce a plus
